During March 2015 we organised and delivered a ‘build a bike project’ for 25 participants. Each individual completed a bicycle maintenance course and bikeability level 1 before taking the bike home to keep. This course was delivered to 3 separate group types referred from Kemple view secure mental health unit, Blackburn Youth Offending team, Lifeline and under 12’s self-referrals.
From the success of ‘Build a bike’ all those who attended from Kemple view, now volunteer at Cycle Roots and have set up their own cycling club, participating in weekly group rides.
